NE UTAH
Top - A strip mine fired a blast just as we rode by, I would have swore someone was firing 8 inchers at us. I almost wet my pants.
Left & Center Rt - Flaming Gorge and dam on the Wyoming border.
Bottom - Last nice rest stop for a while
WYOMING/SOUTH DAKOTA
Upper Left - Southern Wyoming was desolate and cold. This was one of the few nice spots there, a wildlife refuge
Upper Right - South Dakota at last.
Lower Left - A old bank in Custer.
Lower Right - Two wooly mammoths.
BLACK HILLS
Top - The Crazy Horse Monument & me, 2 works still in progress
Center - The Needles Hiway
Bottom - Mt. Rushmore
WYOMING HEADED BACK
Upper Left - Yellowstone, just before we were turned away from east Gate (roadwork).
Rode around to North entrance
Upper Right - Devils Tower, a rainy day
Center Left - A herd of elk surrounded by a bunch of dumb animals with cameras
Bottom - The best little German restaurant in Idaho, where else ya gonna stop on BMWers.
IDAHO/NEVADA
Top - Craters of the Moon
Center - A neat little rest stop on the Nevada Border
Bottom - A breath taking sunset, the pic doesn't do it justice.
NEVADA/CAL
Upper Left - After Sis had stomach problems they opted for the freeway home,
I headed for the dirt roads, a R100GS freeway.
Upper Righjt - The pony express trail, I wanted to ride it in the worst way but my map
didn't show it and I chickened out.Maybe next time
Center Right - Giant sand dune just outside Fallon.
Bottom - A nice river going up the Ebbetts pass in the Sierras, still didn't get my fly lines wet.
HOME
Top - Catching my breath after very large truck almost flattened me on Hiway 4.
Center = A lovely mountain lake where I stopped for a smoke to contemplate the universe and to gauge how often the trucks were coming down the road.
Bottom Home with the German mistress(BMW GS) and the rest of my lovelies.
NEXT YEAR
Am already thinking about next year. My plan is to ride to
Michigan by the fastest route and visit my relatives.
Then, up into Canada for the ride home. On the return
leg I will dawdle and take all the back roads I can find.
Will drop down into Montana via Glacier. Then back down
thru Idaho (can't decide if I like it or Eastern Utah
better). Then over the Sierras and home. I can't wait
